When do your services start?

We have two worship opportunities:

9:15 am Awakening Contemporary Worship is held in our Fellowship Hall and is led by an amazing praise band.

11:15 am Traditional Worship is held in the Sanctuary and is led by a wonderful choir and sometimes includes orchestra instruments or handbells.

Both services are livestreamed.  You can watch on our YouTube channel or Facebook page.

What values are reflected in our worship services?

Each Sunday, we have an opportunity to demonstrate our love and gratitude to God through worship. Worship is a weekly chance to practice the Kin-dom values we profess, like inclusivity, justice, and solidarity, as we praise God. We value intergenerational worship and receive joy from the gifts of our youngest and oldest members, who are often enlisted to read scripture and lead other elements of worship. We often incorporate spiritual practices like Lectio Divina, centering prayer, and silence, not only speaking to God but also listening for God to speak to us.

We generally follow the Christian Year and celebrate Advent, Lent, and Pentecost together. Our worship services also reflect our progressive Christian theology.  For instance, we often minimize the use of masculine language when referencing God to attest to God’s vastness and affirm that we are all created in God’s image.

At First Baptist, we celebrate Communion on the First Sunday of the month.  All those seeking to pattern their lives after Jesus are invited to receive Communion.

Is childcare available?

Yes! Childcare is available for children birth through kindergarten for all our services. You can check in your children at the nursery, which is located right outside of the sanctuary. All our paid workers and nursery volunteers are background checked and receive training. You can go to worship knowing that they will have a good time and be in good hands. Sometime kids will go the gym or the playground but that will be clearly communicated to caregivers.

At First Baptist, we know that one of the most important aspects of a child’s faith development is seeing that faith modeled by their parents. As such, we ask all children in 1st-5th grade to worship with their families. We also know that it can be difficult for little ones to follow the rhythms of worship. To help them connect, you can find worship bags outside of the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary that contain a clipboard, a pencil, a fidget, and colors, all aimed to help your children experience God in Worship. You can grab a bag in the guest bin, select a worship bulletin and a few coloring pages, and put the bag back after worship. We know that children can get the wiggles, and that is okay! We love that our children are both seen and heard. In fact, we recommend, you sit towards the front, so your kids have a better view of what is happening during the service.

Where do I park?

Parking for First Baptist's Sunday morning Services is available behind the church building.  When you are on Broadway, you will want to turn onto Waugh Street.  You will pass the church and there will be a sign on your right indicating that you have made it to the “First Baptist Parking.” You can enter through the double doors and turn to the left for the Fellowship Hall or turn right to find the Sanctuary.
