I am so thankful for this opportunity to be a part of First Baptist Church as your Childcare Director. I always introduce myself by proudly stating I am from the great state of Nebraska. That used to incite bitterness and antagonism, but nowadays Nebraska, as in the Nebraska Cornhuskers, doesn’t seem to be quite so intimidating! Although I do still love my home state and the small-town roots that developed me into who I am.
My college degree is in teaching, however I was blessed in landing a job as a care manager for children with disabilities right out of college. That position moved on to adults with disabilities and case management for the elderly in a 5 county region here in Missouri. I owned a home care business for 10 years with emphasis in caring for adults and blind individuals.
I am active with the National Federation of the Blind and belong to both the Columbia and Jefferson City chapters. I believe in advocating for the blind through social interactions, attending state and national conventions, and testifying for their rights to live the lives they want independently and fully. It is truly rewarding to be a part of their lives and witness their tenacity to overcome any and all obstacles.
I am greatly enjoying getting to know the families who entrust us to care for their children in a safe environment where play is priority. Please feel free to stop in and say hello!
