Greg Hunt

Interim Senior Pastor

Gregory L. Hunt, Ph.D. Bio:

Dr. Gregory L. Hunt (Greg) is a highly-regarded speaker, teacher, consultant, and writer. He received his M.Div. and Ph.D. (Systematic Theology) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. In addition to 30+ years of pastoral ministry, Dr. Hunt was integrally involved in the birth and early development of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Central Baptist Theological Seminary for 14 years (1994-2008).

Throughout his years of ministry, he has been deeply committed to the translation of faith into civic, global, and everyday life. He has led the churches he served into such involvements as sponsoring refugees from Southeast Asia, building medical clinics in southern Mexico, partnering with missional ministries to gypsies in India and Macedonia, and building houses in the inner city of Shreveport, Louisiana after the devastations of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His commitment to global and local engagement has taken him to Mexico, England, Belgium, South Korea, and India and led to active civic and ecumenical involvement in the cities where his calling has taken him. As an equipper of Christians and congregations, he has been dedicated to empowering and releasing people for the full incarnational potential of their everyday lives.

In September, 2009, after 30+ years of pastoral ministry, Greg transitioned into full-time work as President of Directions, Inc., a non-profit he and his wife, Priscilla, formed to serve people as they lead their organizations, relationships, and lives. This work includes interim pastoral ministry, which he finds particularly stimulating because of the unique opportunity an interim presents for congregational development. In addition to his work with congregations and other faith-based and non-sectarian organizations, Greg has been Research Professor and an adjunct faculty member of Central Baptist Theological Seminary since 2010, teaching such courses as Introduction to Constructive Theology, Interpersonal Skills, and The Vulnerable Leader.

Greg's book, Leading Congregations through Crisis, was recognized by the Academy of Parish Clergy as one of the top ten parish ministry books of 2012. His first book, Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night: What to Do When God Won't Answer, was released in October, 2011, achieving international bestseller status on Amazon.com.

Greg’s wife, Priscilla, is Executive Director of Better Marriages, a non-profit focused on relationship education. They have two adult children – Michelle and Ethan – and three granddaughters – Jocelyn, Madelyn, and Audre
