Part-Time Childcare Coordinator

Job Summary: 

The Childcare Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the children of the church are well cared for in a loving environment for any event or ministry of the church for which childcare is requested. The position’s primary hours are Sunday mornings from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, with occasional hours on Wednesday evenings and special events. The Childcare Coordinator reports to the Pastor of Families.

Primary Duties
  • Ensures that the childcare staff are following the First Baptist Church Child Policy.
  • Ensures that the nursery is staffed with appropriate caregivers when requested and that nursery is safe and pleasing to both the children and parents.
  • Ensures that nursery/childcare staff are always actively engaged with the children, have a positive, helpful attitude, and are following nursery policies.
  • Coaches and instructs staff on proper behavior.
  • Along with the pastor of families, addresses any issues related to poor performance of staff.
  • Communicate with the pastor of families and parents proactively to resolve any issues or problems related to childcare.
  • Ensure that staff meet and greet each parent and child as they arrive, welcoming them warmly and signing them in appropriately. This should often be done by the coordinator, so parents know the coordinator and trust in their work.
  • Communicates weekly with the childcare staff and pastor of families
  • Schedule childcare staff as requested: for all worship services, for meetings, and activities of the church, with one month in advanced when possible.
  • Fill in where there is a gap in coverage as needed.
  • Keep rooms clean, tidy, and well-stocked at all times. This includes snacks, cleaning supplies, diapers, wipes, etc.
  • Conduct hiring, interviewing, and training new staff with the assistance of the Pastor of Families.
  • Provide new staff with a handbook of guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of childcare and infant care experience 
  • CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to get certified)
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to be polite, courteous, and friendly with all parents, volunteers, and children

Part-Time Childcare Worker

Job Summary: 

Childcare Workers at First Baptist Church are an integral part of our Children's Ministry. Workers lovingly care for babies and toddlers while their parents and caregivers participate in church services and other meetings. Sunday morning availability is required. Additional hours are available during church meetings and events. Paid Childcare Workers report to the Childcare Coordinator and Pastor of Families. 

  • Provide Nursery Director with schedule availability
  • Follow the assigned schedule, understanding that in the event of an emergency or illness, that the Nursery Director should be contacted 24 hours in advance when possible, but no less than two hours before the shift starts.
  • Work as a team, with the understanding that you serve a vital role at FBC, caring for the youngest of our church family while parents are in worship or other church functions.
  • Be on time, ready to greet children and families as they arrive.
  • Provide age-appropriate care that includes: feeding, changing diapers, naps, holding, rocking, comforting and cheerfully interacting with the children
  • Provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child.
  • Follow all nursery guidelines.
  • Maintain open communication with the Nursery Director.
Qualifications 
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • 1+ years experience working with children.
  • CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to get certified).
  • Ability to be polite, courteous, and friendly with all parents, volunteers, and children.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
