New to First Baptist Church
Where do I park?
Parking for First Baptist is available behind the church building. When you are on Broadway, you will want to turn onto Waugh Street. You will pass the church and there will be a sign on your right indicating that you have made it to the “First Baptist Parking.”
When do your services start?
If you are looking for a contemporary service then you can join us at 9:15 a.m. for our Awakening service which meets in our fellowship hall.
Want a more traditional setting? Feel free to come to the sanctuary at 11:15 a.m. for our Traditional service.
How long does service last?
We are sure to keep each service at First Baptist Church around one hour.
What should I wear?
We want you to wear what makes you feel comfortable. In general, if you are joining us for the Awakening service, the atmosphere is more casual. Some guys will dress in slacks and collared shirts and women might wear dresses and skirts, but many people wear jeans, shorts, polo type shirts, or tee shirts. In the Traditional service, some choose to wear the casual attire just as the Awakening service. However, there are also men in suits, or long sleeve dress shirts with slacks. Women may be wearing dresses and skirts, but a lot wear slacks and tops. If you still have questions, you might want to check out one of the services on our UStream site. You’ll find at First Baptist the emphasis is not on clothes but on worship, friends and learning.
Do you offer Bible studies?
Yes. Every Sunday between the Awakening and Traditional services at 10:15 a.m. we have what we call Sunday Morning Small Groups for all ages. In addition to these small groups, throughout the week different groups meet for fellowship and Bible study. You can check out the other opportunities under the “Adult” tab.
Do you have a place for my children on Sunday?
Of course! We offer nursery care for infants-2 year-olds during the Awakening service, Sunday Morning Small Groups and the Traditional service. Children 3 years old-Kindergarten can be dropped off in the nursery during both worship services and are invited to First Kids at 10:15 a.m. Children in grades 1-5 are welcome to stay with you to participate in the worship service and are invited to go to First Kids at 10:15am.
