FBC Mission Saturday

Mission – The Wardrobe

Was a great mission project done on a most beautiful day!
On Saturday, September 24, about twenty First Baptist Church members met at noon to work at The Wardrobe.  The Wardrobe, at 715 Park Ave., is one of Columbia’s most successful and least-noticed social service agencies. It has provided free and reduced-cost clothing and shoes to needy families since 1969.
We bagged up all the summer clothing and boxed up books.  The bagged clothing will be picked up in a few days to be sorted at another facility out of town.  Some of the clothing will be sent to international agencies for distribution and the rest of it will be shredded and used to make seat cushions. The books will also be recycled.
The Wardrobe will be closed for one week while volunteers ready the store by hanging winter clothes and setting out other winter items.
Volunteers from First Baptist Church regularly work at The Wardrobe the third Friday of every month.
Thank you to all who helped!
